Know About Our Library (FIST)
The library at the Faisalabad Institute of Science and Technology (FIST) is an important academic resource designed to support the institute’s mission of delivering high-quality education and fostering research across its programs. The facility caters to the learning and research needs of students, faculty, and researchers by providing access to a wide range of academic materials and information services.
The library is well-stocked with a significant collection of printed books, e-books, reference materials, and academic resources that support the various disciplines taught at FIST. In addition, students and faculty have access to HEC digital library databases, which greatly expand the range of scholarly materials available for study and research.
The library is integrated into the academic environment of the campus, which features modern infrastructure including air-conditioned classrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, and advanced computer labs. These resources collectively enhance the learning experience and provide a supportive environment for academic achievement and knowledge discovery.
With its collection of over 7,000 books and digital resources, the library plays a critical role in student education and research support at FIST. It serves as a central hub for students and faculty to explore current developments, consult scholarly texts, and conduct academic research aligned with the institute’s vision of transforming ambitions into achievements.
Library Rules & Regulations for Students
1. Membership & Access
Only registered FIST students, faculty, and staff are authorized users of the library.
Every student must present their valid FIST student ID card for entry and for borrowing library resources.
Library membership is non-transferable — books and services cannot be accessed using another person’s ID.
2. Library Conduct
Complete silence must be observed in the library reading and study areas.
Respectful behavior toward library staff and fellow students is required at all times.
Personal belongings such as bags, briefcases, large files, etc. may be required to be left at the designated area on entry, and the library is not responsible for loss or damage of personal items.
Mobile phones must be on silent and only used for academic purposes; calls are not allowed in reading areas.
Eating, drinking, smoking, loud talking, and group discussions are strictly prohibited inside the library.
Laptops and computers in the library must be used only for study and research purposes playing games, watching videos, or non-academic activities are prohibited.
After using books or periodicals, students should leave them on the table for staff to shelve properly; do not reshelve yourself.
3. Borrowing & Lending Rules
Students can borrow library materials for the designated borrowing period as per library policy.
Books and other materials must be returned on or before the due date.
Borrowed books may be renewed only if there is no reservation by another user.
Reference materials, theses, rare books, CDs, and bound journals may be consulted inside the library only and may not be issued to take home.
4. Overdue, Lost & Damaged Items
Students will be charged a daily fine for late returns of borrowed materials beyond the due date.* (The exact fine rate is set by the library.)
Lost or damaged books must be replaced by the borrower with the same title and edition, or the student must pay the current replacement cost plus applicable fines.
Willful damage or unauthorized removal of library materials is considered a serious offence and may lead to disciplinary action.
5. Digital & Online Resources
Use of the library’s online resources, e-books, and digital databases (e.g., HEC digital library) is for educational and research purposes only.
Sharing login credentials or downloading excessive content that violates licensing agreements is prohibited.
6. General Etiquette
Do not write, underline, mark, fold, tear, or damage library books or materials in any way.
Students must permit library staff to inspect bags and borrowed items on exit if asked.
Any violation of rules may result in suspension of borrowing privileges, fines, or referral to university authorities for disciplinary handling.
7. Compliance
Students are expected to comply with FIST’s overall disciplinary code, dress code, and campus conduct policies.
Violations within the library will be addressed under the institute’s disciplinary framework.
